Apartments in Koreatown Under $2,000: Where the Numbers Work (2026)

Last updated October 31, 2026. Rent figures: Zillow Observed Rent Index (ZORI), September 2026; HUD FY2027 Small Area Fair Market Rents. See our editorial standards.

Koreatown is one of the few central Los Angeles neighborhoods where a sub-$2,000 apartment is realistic, but only in certain ZIP codes and mostly for studios and small one-bedrooms. Here is what the September 2026 data shows.

What this means for a $2,000 budget

  • 90020 and 90057 are the only ZIPs here where the typical rent (all unit types) is below $2,000: $1,926 and $1,891 in September 2026, both slightly lower than a year earlier.
  • 90006 sits right at the line ($2,021), and HUD’s FY2027 studio benchmark there is $1,860, the lowest in this group.
  • 90005 and 90010 (closer to Wilshire Blvd and newer high-rises) typically run well above $2,000.
  • A studio is the most realistic target. HUD’s one-bedroom benchmark is above $2,000 in every ZIP in the table.

Tips for finding Koreatown units under $2,000

About the numbers

Zillow ZORI is a smoothed, ZIP-level index of typical observed market asking rents across all home types (not a single listing, and not bedroom-specific). HUD Small Area Fair Market Rents (SAFMR) are HUD’s FY2027 per-bedroom estimates used to set housing voucher payment standards; they are gross-rent estimates (rent plus basic utilities), not asking prices. Neither number guarantees a specific unit at that price. Always confirm rent, fees and terms with the landlord in writing.
